Jeremy Spencer On Psychosexual/Psycho Synner: “People F*cking Hated It”

Ex-Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer has confirmed that for now, his much-maligned Psycho Synner project (previously known as Psychosexual and briefly as ‘Devil Daddy‘) is no longer a part of his focus. Spencer assumed the masked character of Devil Daddy in the group, before rebranding as Grym Synner. Amid the several relaunches of the project, past albums were removed from digital service providers and more, making for a convoluted tale.

Despite only existing for a brief few years from 2019 onward, the outfit were absurdly prolific, releasing nine separate studio albums in one day back in November of 2021. Should you have been following the band around that time, you’re likely well aware that the overall reaction to the breadth of that catalog was not a positive one.

Speaking recently with Blabbermouth.net, Spencer confirmed that his here
current death metal venture Semi-Rotted is now his cheif focus. He commented of his time with Psychosexual/Psycho Synner:

“It was quite an experience. I wanted to do something really different from Death Punch. I wanted to do something visually stimulating and fun. It was supposed to be lighthearted and fun, but before we figured out our core sound, we released some cheesy and boneheaded songs early. I don’t think we recovered. People said, ‘This sucks.’ I said, ‘Hold on! It’s going to be different.’ We went on to release 11 albums and nine in one day. We worked our asses off. People fucking hated it. I was an easy target.”

He continued:

“I got to experience a lot of different styles of music. I did a song with Dave Wyndorf from Monster Magnet. To me, that was awesome. And we had seven number-one songs on the secondary radio market at rock radio. It was a band that did some cool things on the radio but could never break through into the public. They didn’t care. Now, Semi-Rotted is the only thing I’m focusing on.”
