TMZ are reporting that Rage Against The Machine were reportedly being pursued to headline the 2027 ‘Coachella‘ festival, but opted to turn the event down. The politically-oriented Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers have a long history with that festival, having headlined the first edition back in 1999. They would return in 2007 and had also been booked for perform in 2000. However, the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic saw that performance postponed until 2022. By the time that festival was able to take place, the band were no longer apart of it.

As it stands now, Rage Against The Machine have remained dormant since abruptly closing out part of their reunion plans back in August of 2022. That run was marred by injury suffered onstage by vocalist Zack de la Rocha, in which he severely tore his Achilles tendon early into the trek in a freak accident. He went on to gut out the first leg of the trek while primarily seated.

Per TMZ, BTS were also being pursued to headline next year’s festival, but also chose not to take part. Instead, TMZ, citing unnamed sources, claim that Dua Lipa, SZA and Tame Impala are expected to headline next year’s ‘Coachella‘. That annual pair of weekend festival shows have been booked for April 09th to 11th and April 16th to 18th in Indio Valley, CA.
