Ministry‘s Al Jourgensen has confirmed the end date for Ministry. The influential industrial metaller announced last year that his long-running band would be put to bed following the conclusion of their current touring cycle. That run of shows is being waged on the back of their impending final studio album, “Hate To Go – Take Out Or Delivery“. That sonic epitaph of sorts is due to arrive this Friday, October 30th.
Now Jourgensen has announced that he intends to once again wind down the band a year to that date, with a show at the KIA Forum in Inglewood, CA. Jourgensen has remained adamant that this latest retirement will stick, previously stating he won’t be going the route of KISS or others. Of course, some have treated his stated intentions skeptically, given that Ministry previously called it quits in 2008, only to return in 2011.
In the below new interview with Licorice Pizza Records, Jourgensen was asked if he will be sad when it all comes to an end, to which he replied:
“No. I’m gonna be in my fucking house before they even let people backstage. Bill Burr will helicopter me home. And that night, a lot of people that have said that I’ve influenced them and all that, the whole night is gonna be a procession of just people saying goodbye… But the last show’s gonna be a lot of people you know that are gonna be saying ‘hey’ and jamming with us, and it’ll be fun… It’ll be a fun last show.”
