Marilyn Manson Has Lost One Of His Recent Grammy Nominations

Marilyn Manson is down one of his pair of Grammy nominations for next year’s awards ceremony. Manson‘s involvement in Kanye West‘s current album “Donda” put him indirectly in the running for two potential Grammy wins at the 64th annual GRAMMY Awards. Now the New York Times report that a revision of eligible writers involved with Kanye‘s song “Jail“, which is up for the ‘Best Rap Song’, has seen Manson removed from the ballot. This latest development appears to have been a clerical matter instead of a response to any backlash.

Manson himself appeared and received a writing credit on the track “Jail Pt. 2” on “Donda“, which also sports a guest spot from rapper DaBaby, who was effectively cancelled after making homophobic statements onstage earlier this year.

West has had a habit of revising his albums after release and at one point blamed his label for initially blocking the inclusion of “Jail Pt. 2” on “Donda. Addressing the complications that have arisen from their awards criteria and how they have enabled Manson and disgraced comedian Louis C.K. to pick up Grammy nods this year, The Recording Academy‘s CEO Harvey Mason Jr. previously stated:

“We won’t restrict the people who can submit their material for consideration. We won’t look back at people’s history, we won’t look at their criminal record, we won’t look at anything other than the legality within our rules of, is this recording for this work eligible based on date and other criteria. If it is, they can submit for consideration.

What we will control is our stages, our shows, our events, our red carpets. We’ll take a look at anyone who is asking to be a part of that, asking to be in attendance, and we’ll make our decisions at that point. But we’re not going to be in the business of restricting people from submitting their work for our voters to decide on.”

Given his involvement with “Donda“, Manson still remains eligible for an ‘Album Of The Year’ Grammy award, should Kanye West win. Despite Manson currently facing lawsuits by several women for sexual assault, etc. related allegations, West has continued to embrace Manson in public, involving him in several high-profile events and seemingly steering him towards Christianity.

This past Monday (November 29th) Manson‘s Residence was raided by police, reportedly in connection to the allegations of sexual assault brought against him. He has thus far denied the initial allegations made against him and continues to fight the aforementioned lawsuits in court.
