Marilyn Manson continues to face political and local opposition in the UK. The shock rocker has been a divisive figure throughout much of his career, but a series of civil sexual assault, etc. lawsuits filed against him over the past five years saw him become even more controversial. Manson has for his part denied the allegations put forth against him by multiple women, with a number of the cases having already been settled or dropped. Two cases however remain ongoing.
The LADA’s Sex Crimes Division investigated the claims against Manson, but chose not to press charges, stating that the allegations fell out of the statute of limitations and that they couldn’t prove the claims beyond a reasonable doubt.
2025 saw Manson face calls from local politicians and activists to have some of his UK performances scrapped in light of the aforementioned allegations, resulting in a Brighton, UK show being canceled. Manson‘s booking as direct support for Slipknot‘s planned headlining show at Wembley Stadium in London, UK on July 03rd alongside Lorna Shore and Hatebreed is the latest concert from Manson to come under fire from local politicians and activists.
Anton Georgiou, a councilor where the stadium is located in, went on to say:
“We cannot keep saying that tackling violence against women and girls is everyone’s business and then fail to ask difficult questions when it really matters. It’s disappointing that the council has not spoken out publicly about this.
The allegations against Marilyn Manson are serious, and while he denies wrongdoing, Wembley Stadium needs to explain what consideration was given to them before this booking was confirmed. It also needs to consider the message this sends to survivors of abuse.”
A spokesman for Brent Council went on to state:
“Decisions about who performs at Wembley Stadium are ultimately a matter for the venue and event organisers, rather than Brent Council, which has no direct control over commercial bookings. That does not diminish our commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, which has no place in Brent. We are crystal clear about our values, and that is why we devote significant time, resources and effort to preventing abuse, supporting survivors and making our borough safer.”
