Hunter Young (Moodring/PSYCHO-FRAME) Opens Up About His Declining Health: "I Just Want A Shot At Life And To Regain SOME Of Myself"

Back in 2023, Hunter Young (Moodring, PSYCHO-FRAME) stepped back from touring amid his struggles with debilitating illness and neurological conditions. Per a newly shared update on his health issued late this week, Young outlined where he is at with his condition now. While he has some answers about what he’s dealing with, his struggles very much continue, without a defined path to recovery as of yet.

In his post, he went on state that he suffers from Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome; Dysautonomia, a disorder which can cause processes like blood pressure, heart rate and digestion to malfunction; and small fiber neuropathy, a type of nerve damage that can cause tingling, burning pain and other unwanted symptoms.

Young‘s statement on the matter and his increasingly unstable living situation, which he shared via his Instagram story, read as follows:

“I am going to keep this extremely direct without trying to tear anyone down.

I have severe ME/CFS, Dysautonomia, small fiber neuropathy, and more.
It is an extremely debilitating disease.
I have been getting worse and worse, shedding weight, problems with sensory (no music, very little media), extreme pain, gastrointestinal issues, nervous system is out of control and I’ve desperately needed help, but it appears there is next to none.
The only thing that prevents worsening right now is lying in a cold dark room and doing my best to mitigate stress and stimuli.
Sometimes with an eye mask / ear plugs in.
Living as if I am nothing.
I have the strength to get up and go to the bathroom, sometimes get myself water, and that’s about it.

On top of this, I got more sick and my relationship has come to an end.
I won’t say much about this besides:
This is not what I wanted.
Absolutely devastating scenario on multiple fronts.
The stress of this is all is guaranteed to make me even more sick.
The loss of my safety and the things that have kept me anchored to this earth is absolutely unfathomable to me.
I haven’t begun to process out of pure survival.

Here’s the thing:
I do not have anywhere to go that understands what I’m going through.
I do not have anyone to take care of me.
l am physically not capable of taking care of myself right now, and as a 33 year old man…how tf do I find that? I don’t want to ruin anyone else’s life or be a burden. No one who has the smallest simblance of how to navigate this disease is here to help me and there are people in my life pushing me towards the route of assisted d***g. This is not drama, this is a fact. This is not uncommon with severe ME. I just want a shot at life and to regain SOME of myself. All I want is the grace to even try.

I’m not saying I don’t have friends.
There is not much they can do.

I should preface by saying I am not broke, I have lots to sell, and future money to make if I can regain some health but getting my own place and having to pay for a full-time caretaker would run me dry quickly while I have no income and am still trying to find ways to crawl out of this.
Nobody can afford to put me in a home, and I would most likely face medical abuse either way. Bluntly, I’d rather die than lose the tiny bit of autonomy I still have left.
I can contribute greatly, but only financially.

Writing this is one of the most humiliating things I’ve ever done and I hope you never have to.
I don’t know if there’s any help out there, but this is what’s going on.”

Hopefully, with the sobering extent of his situation out there, his family, friends and fans can perhaps find an avenue, be it crowdfunding, MusiCares or another path, to help him get a handle on his condition, or at least be able to focus solely on his health challenges, without additional worries.
