After sharing this brutally frank post about his declining health and uncertain living situation last month, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched for Hunter Young of Moodring and PSYCHO-FRAME fame.
Young explained in detail in that above-mentioned post that he has been battling myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome; Dysautonomia, a disorder which can cause processes like blood pressure, heart rate and digestion to malfunction; and small fiber neuropathy, a type of nerve damage that can cause tingling, burning pain and other discomforting symptoms.
This GoFundMe has since been launched on his behalf to raise funds for his medical and living expenses. The following was said of Young‘s health around the campaign, which seeks to raise $20,000 USD.
“This fundraiser has been created on behalf of Hunter Young.
As many of you have heard, Hunter is struggling immensely with the debilitating medical conditions ME/CFS, Dysautonomia, and Small Fiber Polyneuropathy. Hunter was diagnosed 3 years ago and his health has significantly decreased since.
ME/CFS has led to Hunter needing full time care (which he currently does not have) and being unable to work, especially these last few months, and he needs to secure housing. He currently spends an average of 23 hours a day in complete silence and darkness due to how much pain ME/CFS causes him. He has also lost 60lbs since July due to his inability to eat and digest food.
Doing more can lead to significant indefinite worsening. After seeing multiple specialists over the years, he has been recommended IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulin) for the constant burning SFN causes. Due to being uninsured and having no insurance options he will get approved for at this time (Medicare/SSD), his expected treatment cost per year is approximately $100,000, on average $10,000 per treatment. Medical assistance programs are available, but only once treatment has begun.
Hunter is trying to return to Florida to be closer to his friends and family, find an apartment, and begin treatment as soon as possible. The hope is that upon returning to Florida he can see the specialist he needs to, be in a safe environment, he can apply for medical assistance and hopefully any treatments will be successful enough to allow him to return to what he loves doing.
We are asking for help with treatment costs and living expenses for the next couple months to give Hunter a head start on treatment and being able to financially breathe. Currently, without any financial help, Hunter will likely be out of money between treatment, medication costs, and living expenses within the next 2-3 months. Creating this fundraiser was not an easy decision, but he is running out of options.
Any support is greatly appreciated and will assist with Hunter being able to live a comfortable and healthy life.
At the very least it buys him some time to get the rest he has been quite literally begging for.”
