Further details have emerged on the sad passing of Crazy Town vocalist Shifty Shellshock (aka Seth Binzer) earlier this. The 49-year-old musician was found dead in his Los Angeles, CA residence this past Monday, June 24th. Now Shellshock‘s manager Howie Hubberman has spoken to People on the matter, stating:

Seth Binzer, after struggling with addiction and Crazy Town‘s rapid success with ‘Butterfly,’ never was able to reach out on a more successful level to deal with his addictions. We all tried, but ultimately we all failed, or Shifty would still be here.”

While Hubberman already revealed that Shifty died from an accidental overdose, he provided more details to the aforementioned publication. Hubberman offered:

“The cause of death was a combination of prescription drugs and street purchased drugs. Shifty was a friend and really wanted to get himself fixed — unfortunately no one had the exact tools to do this, myself included.”

An official toxicology report is pending. Shifty‘s battles with addiction often played out in the public eye, with arrests of drug possession, etc., and several stints of rehab television shows displaying his struggles with addiction to cocaine, crack and other substances for the world to see. Unfortunately his problems persisted as Crazy Town were ejected from a tour last year after a violent backstage brawl transpired between Shellshock and Crazy Town co-vocalist Bobby Reeves.

A few days removed from that incident, Shellshock was arrested for a DUI in the same city that fight took place in. A revised Crazy Town lineup led by Shifty would return to the stage for only a handful of shows in the aftermath of the incident.
