All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte has shared some of his thoughts on Spiritbox‘s recent decision to drop off of Falling In Reverse‘s summer tour. While announced for that trek early last week, Spiritbox would ultimately go on to delete all mention of the run from their social media before the weekend. Yesterday, March 13th saw the Canadian alternative metal outfit announce that they had officially opted to withdraw from the trek.
While no further explanation was given, it’s widely thought that the band chose to distance themselves from the tour due to the past allegedly problematic behavior of Falling In Reverse vocalist Ronnie Radke, as well as the involvement of Crown The Empire on select dates.
Controversy began to surround the latter outfit last year after an ex-girlfriend of their guitarist/vocalist Brandon Hoover came forward with public allegations of physical abuse against him. Both the band and Hoover publicly denied those allegations in February of this year. Soon afterwards, Radke himself took to Twitter to defend Hoover, sharing various ‘evidence’ which he claimed refuted the allegation.
Given the above, Spiritbox and several other openers of Falling In Reverse‘s summer tour found themselves under considerable public backlash on social media regarding their decision to take part in the run. Spiritbox in particular perhaps got the worst of the uproar however, as the band have in the past championed inclusivity and consent.
Labonte waded into the matter on Twitter earlier today (March 14th), offering:
The self segregation of society continues apace https://t.co/WEoKPJuCYJ

It’s really shitty business to take a tour offer, then drop off the tour over old news internet drama. None of this is new, @spiritboxband was fully aware of past @RonnieRadke drama before they accepted the offer. https://t.co/WEoKPJuCYJ

The issues are nothing new so they knew about Ronnie when they took the shows. It’s bad business. If you like intrigue it could be they did it intentionally for press.

I’m not sure that’s the case. They’re a great bands but business is business and there is a reason FIR is headlining.
