There’s yet another chapter to be told in the tale of Threatin‘s disasterous European/UK tour last year. That trek came apart at the seams after empty venues and angry promoters discovered that the run was booked on the backs of an impersonated label, publicist, booking agency and manager. The elaborate hoax also extended to paid for likes and comments on social media, forged live videos and accolades from a fake rock news site.
The whole scheme was masterminded by Jered “Threatin” Eames and his wife Kelsey, as Threatin would later go on to reveal in an interview with Rollingstone. At the time he called the ordeal a “publicity stunt”, though asserting he was committed to the music he created.
Now MetalSucks caught wind of three suits which were filed against Jered and his wife Kelsey by his touring bandmates at the time of the tour, guitarist Joe Prunera and drummer Dane Davis, as well as another suit by Davis‘ mother Debra. Both Prunera and Dane were touring members hired on for the tour and left the trek early upon finding out about Eames‘ deception.
Public records show that Prunera was awarded $10,000 plus $250 in court fees for losses incurred by falling victim to Eames‘ schemes, including lost wages, travel expenses, the costs of instruments and more. Dane on the other hand received a total $3,975.29.
Davis‘ mother Debra also filed suit against the Eames‘s to recoup the expenses she incurred for flying to see the show as well as purchasing her son an unexpected plane ticket back home after the tour unraveled. She was awarded $4,035.66.
According to the record, both Jered and Kelsey failed to show in court to defend themselves, resulting in a default verdict against them on April 08th, 2019. It is said that both had also not responded initial notices of the claims brought against them and were eventually served in person this past March.
MetalSucks got in contact with Prunera and it seems that the couple have not responded to any correspondence sent their way regarding the verdicts, having apparently the sent written notices back as “not deliverable as addressed.” The three are said to be looking into potentially garnishing wages or freezing the assets of Jered and Kelsey in a bid to obtain the funds they were awarded via the cases.
Threatin the band are currently planning to do a victory lap of sorts in November, having been officially booked to return to the UK for a show at The Underworld in London, England on November 01st—a year to the date his first show at the same venue fell apart. The show is meant to capitalize on the viral nature the tale of Jered and his wife’s deception took on last year.
Earlier this month Threatin posted the following call for a touring guitarist for that particular trek:
