The Legal Dispute Over Temple Of The Dog Masters Has Been Resolved

You may recall last year that a legal dispute had erupted over the possession of the master tapes to Temple Of The Dog‘s self-titled 1991 album. Rajan Parasher, brother of the album’s late producer Rick Parashar, had physical possession of the masters for the effort and was alleging that payment was still owed for his engineering work from the album’s original sessions.

He made his claims despite the label, A&M Records, having paid Rick $35,000 for the rights and ownership of the masters in a deal struck back in 1993. The nature of the legal wrangling that followed is unclear, but the outcome isn’t. Chris Cornell (also of Soundgarden) shared the below image of the tapes being returned.

Temple Of The Dog were of course a short lived supergroup featuring members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. The label were presumed to be planning a reissue of the effort. With the tapes now back in their possession, it would appear the road is paved for that release.
