The life and times of multi-platinum shock rocker Marilyn Manson will be examined in a new three-part docuseries set to air on British television station Channel 4 this month. Titled ‘Marilyn Manson: Unmasked‘, that series will air across January 14th through to the 16th. An official synopsis stated that the series will chart, ‘meteoric rise as the self-proclaimed ‘Antichrist Superstar’ to the chilling abuse allegations that have engulfed his career.”
At this point, Manson‘s legal issues over the past few years have been well documented and continue to unfold. Notably taking part in tthis new series is Evan Rachel Wood, Manson‘s former fiancée who back in 2021, publicly accused Manson of “horrifically” abusing her during their relationship through the late aughts.
Wood‘s allegation was soon followed by allegations of a similar nature from over a dozen women, several of which resulted in civil lawsuits. Wood previously took part in the 2022 ‘Phoenix Rising‘ documentary series, which touched on the numerous allegations made against Manson. That series also highlighted her work in helping pass California’s Phoenix Act, which extended the statute of limitations for claims of domestic violence.
Manson publicly denied the aforementioned allegations and went on to sue Wood and her associate Ilma Gore for defamation. He alleged the pair had served as ringleaders in an attempt to discredit and defame him. This past November, after facing several setbacks to that complaint in court, Manson ultimately dropped his suit.
That wasn’t the extent of Manson‘s legal entanglements over the past five or so years though, as the following developments of note also took place:
- Manson reaching a settlement with Esmé Bianco in January of 2023 after the latter filed suit against him for sexual assault, etc.
- Ashley Morgan Smithline recanting and dismissing her sexual assault lawsuit against Manson in February of 2023
- Manson reaching a settlement in September of 2023 with a woman who accused him of sexual assault
- A tentative June 2025 trial date set for a sexual assault lawsuit filed against Manson by his ex-personal assistant Ashley Walters
- Bianca Allaine Kyne filing suit against Manson over claims she was sexually assaulted by him in the mid to late 1990s
This past October also saw then Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announce that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Sex Crimes Division have been, “reviewing new leads and additional evidence” in the sexual assault allegations made against Manson. Thus far, there doesn’t appear to have been any further developments announced in that investigation.
After years away from the spotlight and various business entities severing ties with Manson in the wake of the aforementioned allegations, the controversial rocker staged his musical comeback last year. To that extent he hit the road for various live shows and released his comeback album “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1“.
