Marilyn Manson Reaches Settlement With Jane Doe In Rape Lawsuit

Marilyn Manson (aka Brian Warner) has settled another of the rape lawsuits brought against him. This latest resolution emerged just ahead of a trial date that was set for next week. This particular suit was brought against Manson back in 2021, and was filed by woman who kept her identity private, filing as a Jane Doe. The woman first alleged Manson had raped her and threatened her life in an initial version of the lawsuit, claiming the incidents took place back in 2011.

She claimed that she had repressed the memories and was compelled to come forward against Manson after numerous other women spoke out against him in early 2021. While that suit was initially dismissed amid concerns over the statute of limitations and a lack of details, an amended version of the complaint was filed, allowing the suit to proceed.

In that amended complaint, the unidentified woman detailed alleged incidents of Manson raping her vaginally and orally, and also threatening to “bash her head in.” Per Rolling Stone, the woman in question has now filed a notice of a settlement being reached between herself and Manson, with the case set to formally be dismissed within 45 days. Details of the settlement were not publicly disclosed.

She said in a statement provided to the aforementioned publication:

“I was fully prepared for trial and never in a million years thought I would ever settle, but over the past two-and-a-half years I have silently endured threats, bullying, harassment and various forms of intimidation that have intensified over the past few weeks.

Marilyn Manson attended my deposition, and I was forced to answer seven hours of aggressive questioning with him staring at me from across the table. I’ve been told that this almost never happens, as it’s cruel, and that a main reason for it would be to intimidate and inflict emotional distress on a victim.

I never cared about money and only ever wanted justice, but if we had gone to trial, I could have lost my right to anonymity and been victim-blamed on a large and public scale. “Most importantly I could have risked losing the freedom to tell my story, and that is worth more than anything in the world.”

She continued:

“If any other victims are reading this. please know that you are loved and supported even if it doesn’t feel that way, and that in spite of everything I’ve been through I don’t for one second regret speaking up.”

Manson‘s attorney, Howard King, stated:

Brian is pleased that, just as previous lawsuits were abandoned without payment or settled for pennies on the dollar, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop her suit in exchange for an insurance payment representing a fraction of her demands and far less than the cost to Brian of proceeding to trial.”

This is the second sexual assault-related lawsuit which Manson has settled this year having previously reached an agreement with Esmé Bianco. A separate lawsuit filed against Manson by model Ashley Morgan Smithline was dismissed after she later recanted her accusations.

Smithline in part alleged to have been manipulated by Manson‘s ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, claiming she “succumbed to pressure from Evan Rachel Wood and her associates to make accusations of rape and assault against Mr. Warner that were not true.”

Also dismissed against Manson was a sexual assault lawsuit filed by his former personal assistant Ashley Walters. That complaint was dismissed back in May of 2022.

A separate lawsuit filed by another Jane Doe earlier this year accuses Manson of sexual assault of a minor, with the incident allegedly taking place back in the 1990s. That suit remains active.

Over a dozen women came forward with disturbing claims against Manson in the wake of Evan Rachel Wood came forward against him with claims of past abuse in early 2021.

Manson himself has continually denied the allegations against him and filed a defamation suit against Wood and her associates earlier this year. In that suit, he alleging that Wood and her associate Ilma Gore had, ‘recruited, coordinated, and pressured’ numerous women into making false statements and allegations against Manson. Wood went on to deny Manson‘s allegations.
