Attila vocalist Chris Fronzak has issued a succinct response regarding the controversy surrounding his band’s newly announced U.S. headlining tour. Revealed earlier this week, that trek, dubbed the ‘America’s Rejects Tour‘, was planned to find Attila, Oceano, Dealer and Nathan James heading out in March.
However, the bill of that trek didn’t sit well with some, including members of Alpha Wolf, Fit For A King and more, who all took to voicing their displeasure over the run. Alpha Wolf bassist/vocalist John Arnold went so far as to seemingly label the trek the ‘rapist abuser tour’.
At the center of the controversy is the involvement of Dealer vocalist Aidan Ellaz Holmes and the past allegations of sexual assault and mental abuse leveled against him. Aidan previously fronted Alpha Wolf until the sexual assault allegations were made against him in 2018. While legal action was said to have been taken, it’s also been reported that the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.
The scrutiny over Dealer also extended to Attila‘s past. Back in 2020 Chris Fronzak denied sexual misconduct allegations that were made against him. Several weeks later, his bandmate in drummer Bryan McClure was fired following allegations of rape and sexual misconduct.
Given their spot on the bill, Oceano found themselves in the crosshairs of angry individuals on social media, implying that in accepting the tour, the band were discrediting the accusers, indirectly condoning the alleged transgressions, or simply putting money before their morals. Amid growing unrest, Oceano vocalist Adam Warren opted to not only withdraw his band from the aforementioned, but also went a step further in announcing his exit from the group yesterday night.
Warren claimed to be unaware of the allegations mentioned above before accepting the tour and mentioned that no one on his circle or team had brought up the matter. He further added that his abrupt decision to quit not only came about from the backlash he found himself receiving over the tour, but also his lack of faith in the metalcore scene as a whole. He in part stated:
“…After today I’m fully tired of the industry and the complicit people connected to it. Why would I stay in the larger industry when there’s so many fucked up people lurking around? I’m exposing it with my platform. Rn. And the best way to do that is to ALSO not have anything to lose…”
Pressed for response on Oceano dropping off the bill, Fronzak stated on social media today, November 21st:
Yeah, here's my comment- I don't give a fuck! https://t.co/1ken0IS8mR
