Beartooth vocalist, etc. Caleb Shomo appears to have deleted his official Instagram account. While it is unclear the reasoning behind its removal, Shomo has recently found himself at the center of some controversy for his dramatic image change in the music video for the band’s latest single “Free“.

Various homophobic slurs have been targeted towards him since that video’s release last week, some of which have apparently spilled over to his wife’s social media as well. That song represents Beartooth‘s first output to be released since signing with Fearless Records. At the time of its debut last week, Shomo stated of the song:

“‘Free‘ is the start of the next chapter of my music and my life. The emotional roller coaster that is living can be very complicated at times. In one day you can equally experience pure fear and pure joy. This song shows a glimpse of what is to come from the next Beartooth album, which is the most honest depiction of my soul I will most likely ever make.”

One prominent individual in the metalcore scene thought to have taken a shot at Shomo was Attila frontman Chris Fronzak, who posted a divisive comment on X twice tonight (March 02nd) in the wake of Shomo deleting his account:

Fronzak went on explaining his comment as being a joke:

When asked further by a user on X “What’s up with men needing to be feminine, I’ll never understand it.”, Fronzak replied:
