Melodic hardcore stars Turnstile played a show yesterday, October 24th, that proved to be monumental in more ways than one. With another banner year for the band soon coming to an end, the Baltimore, MD natives performed a free benefit concert at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C..

The band partnered with Human Concern International for that event, with donations fielded for the show being earmarked for humanitarian efforts in Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon. Organizers had already surpassed $150,000 in donations for the show prior to its launch, and as of press time, over $209,000 had been raised via launchgood.com of a current $250,000 goal. Furthermore, organizers estimated that 60,000 people turned out to take in the set yesterday.

During the concert, frontman Brendan Yates was quoted as saying:

“We’re so grateful to have been raised by this scene, one that taught us that music not only reflects the artist making it but the people and the world and the suffering and the joy that surrounds it.”

After shouting out Human Concern International, he is said to have rallied the crowd with, “Loud enough for the White House to hear it: Free Palestine! Free Sudan! Free Lebanon!” Attendance for the event hit capacity, with further fans being turned away and remaining to watch from the barricades that fenced off the outer perimeter of the venue. The setlist for the concert ran as follows:

“BIRDS“
“Real Thing“
“ENDLESS“
“I CARE / DULL“
“DON’T PLAY“
“Drop“
“WILD WRLD“
“MYSTERY“
“SUNSHOWER“
“7“
“Keep It Moving“
“Canned Heat“
“SOLE“
“MAGIC MAN“
“LOOK OUT FOR ME“
“HOLIDAY“
“BLACKOUT“
“NEVER ENOUGH“
“T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION)“
