The legal disputes between pop music icon Cher and her son, Elijah Blue Allman of industrial nü-metallers Deadsy, has come to an end. That battle began playing out in the courts late last year, when Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship of Elijah, citing concerns over his mental health.
As the son of the late Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band, Elijah has been entitled to regular payouts of roughly $120,000 USD annually from a trust fund established in the wake of Gregg‘s passing.
Cher filed a petition late last year for the temporary conservatorship over her son’s share of that money, citing her concerns over Elijah‘s mental health struggles and addiction issues. That case went on to hit several snags in the time since, with Elijah contesting his mother’s concerns. Now the situation has ended in a settlement between the mother and son.
Per Rolling Stone, Cher‘s lawyer Gabrielle Vidal told the court of this resolution of the proceedings: “I’m pleased to report that following a mediation with [two private judges], the parties have privately resolved this matter, and petitioner now wishes to end these legal proceedings.”
It was noted however that the petition was dropped without prejudice, meaning that further legalities could ensure should the need arise.
