Cher Denied Expedited Bid For A Temporary Conservatorship Over Her Son, Deadsy’s Elijah Blue Allman

International pop superstar Cher has been denied an expedited attempt to establish a temporary conservatorship of her 47-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman. The latter individual is known for fronting the gothic industrial metal outfit Deadsy, who were previously set to release a new album titled “Subterfuge” back in 2021. Thus far, that outing has yet to surface.

Late last month, Cher filed an emergency bid to establish a temporary conservatorship over Elijah. Cher had Elijah with the late Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band. Since Gregg‘s 2017 death, Elijah and presumably other parties, have been entitled to regular distributions of funds from a trust established for Allman‘s wealth. Cher‘s legal team estimated that Elijah receives $120,000 USD a year in payouts from that trust.

Cher is being represented by the firm of Loeb & Loeb, who represented Britney Spears amid her widely-publicized conservatorship battle. Via her legal team, Cher cited concerns for her son’s mental health within her December petition, claiming:

Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, petitioner [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk. Elijah is currently unable to manage his finances and the distribution of funds directly to Elijah would not be in his best interests.”

Rolling Stone report that in an initial court hearing held this week, a judge declined granting Cher the temporary order for now. The judge stated that Cher‘s legal team had not provided Elijah‘s chosen legal representation with some of necessary case filings, instead dealing with a previous court-appointed lawyer who was relieved of their services during this initial hearing on the matter.

Elijah himself filed a statement amid these initial hearings on the matter, stating that he had been “clean and sober” for a period of three months. He claimed in a statement:

“Like many people, I have struggled with addiction and spent money in ways that have not always been the most responsible. However, I am now under the care of Dr. Howard Samuels and am attending AA meetings. I have dismissed my petition for dissolution of marriage and I am reconciling with my wife so that we can work on our relationship now that I have found a path to sobriety.

Recently, I have been staying with my wife and before that I was in Mexico for approximately two months. My mother was — at the time that the petition was filed — aware that I was in Mexico prior to December 15, 2023.”

With access to the proper legal documents to be established by Elijah‘s latest representation, a follow-up hearing for Cher‘s bid to establish a temporary conservatorship will be held on January 29th. A separate hearing for a proposed permanent conservatorship of Elijah has also been scheduled for March. A motion newly filed by Elijah‘s legal team to delay that hearing was denied.

There’s been an additional wrinkle thrown into the matter with Elijah reconciling with his previously estranged wife Marie Angela King. Cher‘s legal team have opposed any intention of King being established as a potential conservator for Elijah, arguing that the couple’s “tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”

Since rumblings of the conservatorship attempt broke, Elijah has been subtly opposing the move on social media via the hashtag “#imprisonmentviaconservatorship” on his posts. Deadsy were initially signed to Korn‘s Elementree Records label for a pair of albums released back in the early 2000s.
