Following a recent string of troubling events, Cher has renewed her bid to impose a temporary conservatorship on her son, Deadsy frontman Elijah Blue Allman. Cher first attempted to enact that conservatorship back in late 2023, claiming at the time that her son wasn’t fit to handle his finances, citing, “ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues.”

That initial petition also stated that Cher was, “concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.” The funds in question stem from a trust fund established by his late father, Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band. In her 2023 filing, Cher‘s legal team claimed that Elijah is entitled to roughly $120,000 USD annually via that trust.

Elijah disputed her mother’s claims about his mental and physical health at the time of that legal battle and stated in legal filings of his own that he had been receiving professional treatment for his issues. Ultimately, Cher and Elijah reached a settlement in September of 2024.

In June of 2025, TMZ reported that Elijah had been hospitalized from an overdose. On February 27th of this year, Elijah was charged with two counts of simple assault, one charge of criminal trespass, one charge of criminal threatening, and one charge disorderly conduct. Those charges were laid after he was arrested for causing a disturbance at St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH. A police report indicated that Allman gained access to the facility by claiming to be the parent of a prospective student at it.

Just days afterwards on March 01st, the 49-year-old musician was again arrested, this time after breaking into a New Hampshire home. He was said to be found smoking a cigarette on a sofa in the house when authorities arrived, after being alerted by a homeowner hiding within the residence. He was charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and a breach of bail for that incident.

TMZ now report that Elijah remains admitted in a psychiatric hospital over that troubling string of incidents. Cher‘s newly filed petition alleges that Elijah spends his money, “almost exclusively on drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.”

The petition also further outlined various troubling incidents, including allegations of Elijah having to be bailed out of substantial debts to a drug dealer, a mounting $200,000 tax bill, and claims he has damaged various Airbnbs for tens of thousands of dollars. Also mentioned was Elijah reportedly being ejected from 18 hotels in the past for his aggressive behavior towards staff and other guests, including one hotel in which he allegedly “aggressively proposed sexual relations” towards a female maid.

Cher is seeking to have Jason Rubin appointed as the temporary conservator of Elijah‘s estate in a bid to get her son’s financial state in order.
