Genghis Tron‘s first new album since 2021’s “Dream Weapon” has been tilted “Signal Fire“. The cybergrinders have announced a June 12th release date for that 10-song outing via Relapse Records. The collective co-produced it alongside Seth Manchester (Battles, BIG|BRAVE), with the latter assuming the mixing duties.
Vocalist Tony Wolski (also of The Armed) appears to have drawn some inspiration from the popular works of video game designer Hideo Kojima (‘Metal Gear Solid‘, ‘Death Stranding‘, etc.) for the lyrics on this record, as he stated of it:
“‘Signal Fire‘ envisions a Kojima-esque dystopia of endless proxy warfare where the deluge of available information has outmoded the human ability to parse it. A world where those amoral, shameless and cunning enough can literally reshape the reality at their whim through sheer insistence. Honestly, this is probably about, like, late 2027…”
With the band’s previously established lineup remaining in place, Wolski‘s The Armed bandmate Kenny Szymanski has newly joined the fold on bass. Keyboardist/programmer Michael Sochynsky said of this latest incarnation:
“…Now that Kenny has joined, there’s an entirely new dimension. We originally asked him to help with a few songs, but it turned out so well that he just kept going. Kenny’s playing is one of my favorite aspects of the whole record.”
The album’s opening cut “I Am All” has just been launched as the first single off of the record and sports a music video directed by Aaron Jones.
