The rumored mass restructuring of multi-platinum alternative metal band Bad Wolves appears to have taken on a new twist. Back in April of this year, guitarist/vocalist Doc Coyle and bassist/vocalist Kyle Konkiel jointly revealed their departure from the outfit. Vocalist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz, was the next to go, taking up a role as a bassist/vocalist in Falling In Reverse this past June. At the time, that left the band’s roster at drummer John Boecklin, returning guitarist Chris Cain, newly added bassist Kevin Creekman, and guitarist/vocalist AJ Rebollo.
However, a post shared by the band’s former vocalist Tommy Vext on social media recently spelled out that the group were rebuilding their lineup with all-new members with Boecklin leading the efforts. Vext did not indicate if he himself was a part of those plans, despite teasing in March that he was, “Headed to LA next to record 15 songs. About to be a part of the craziest comeback story in the industry’s history.”
While many have taken Vext‘s commentary to imply that he will be involved with the revamped roster of the outfit, he has since clarified that is not the case. He stated on social media on August 18th:
“Once again to clarify I AM NOT NOR DID I SAY I WAS REFORMING BAD WOLVES.
I am starting a new band with Chris on a new label with new management and a new name.
We are now auditioning members. Please stop misprinting and miss representing what is going on here. Thank you.”
Vext and Cain have been holding open auditions this month for their new band this month, instructing drummers, guitarists and bassists interested in joining the fledgling group to submit covers of several key Bad Wolves tracks, including “Learn To Live“, “I’ll Be There” and “Truth Or Dare“.
Vext‘s run in Bad Wolves came to a bitter end in 2021, with dueling lawsuits emerging that were eventually ended in settlement. However, the bad blood didn’t end their, with legal disputes reigniting in 2024.
