Reunited nü-metal faction Snot have taken to paying tribute to late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne amid their current European/UK touring. The band have been inserting a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Children Of The Grave” into their sets throughout that run.
Meanwhile, the lineup for that tour found the band down a member, with drummer Jamie Miller tied up with commitments with Bad Religion. In light of that, Seven Antonopoulos, who plays with Snot guitarist Mikey Doling in Channel Zero, has been hired to fill-in. Likewise, Doc Coyle (God Forbid, ex-Bad Wolves) remains in place as the group’s touring guitarist follow Sonny Mayo‘s exit this past spring.
Snot came roaring back onto the scene earlier this year with the live reveal of their latest vocalist Andy Knapp (of Stronger Than Machines.) Since relaunching the band, they have played numerous reunion shows and have even managed to hit the studio for new material. As for the this tribute to the Prince Of Darkness himself, Snot were given a big break for their run on the 1998 ‘Ozzfest‘ and remain grateful to the Osbourne family for that opportunity.
Some may recall that Snot‘s late frontman Lynn Strait actually left quite a lasting impression on that tour. During a Mansfield, MA stop he emerged fully naked from a giant toilet prop brought onstage by fellow Ozzfest performers Limp Bizkit. While that would be enough for some, Strait was not a timid man and was instead accompanied by a woman on a leash who according to Doling himself, then went on to perform a sexual act on Strait in front of the audience.
Police arrested Strait for indecent exposure soon after, with Strait reportedly receiving another charge after lying about his identity to the arresting officers. It’s been said that upon being detained by police, Strait claimed to be Megadeth vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine. The latter thrash metal legends were playing the main stage during that year’s ‘Ozzfest‘.
