Word On Something Snot-Related Is "Coming Soon"

The funky punk/nü-metal hybrid of Snot‘s sole studio album, 1997’s “Get Some“, had set them on the path for bigger and better things. A well-received run on the 1998 ‘Ozzfest‘ followed that record, and it found the group quickly rising through the pack — thanks in no small part part to the charismatic performances (and some controversial antics) of their vocalist Lynn Strait. However, In December of that year, Strait and the band’s mascot, Lynn‘s beloved dog Dobbs, were tragically killed in a car accident.

An all-star tribute album in the form of “Strait Up” would follow in November of 2000. It featured members of the likes of Korn, System Of A Down, Limp Bizkit, Incubus and more all paying homage to their fallen friend. Making the moment even more bittersweet, it also found them lending their voices to songs that had been in the works for what was intended to serve as Snot‘s sophomore album.

Few individuals with such a relatively brief career have received such a celebrated sendoff, and it speaks to the potential of not only the band, but also the prowess and character of Strait. The surviving members of Snot initially remained against attempting to replace Lynn in the years that followed, but in 2008, the group was resurrected for a brief run, this time with Tommy Vext (ex-Bad Wolves/Divine Heresy) on vocals. The Vext era lasted roughly a year with a brief resurgence in 2014. Following that, Carl Bensley took over the vocal duties, with scattered touring taking place through to 2017.

Outside of guitarist Mikey Doling taking issue with Fred Durst for Limp Bizkit inviting rapper $not on tour back in 2022, there hasn’t been too much activity from the group in the public eye. There was one point of interest that emerged last summer through, when Doling revealed that a documentary on Strait being in the works.

In a newly shared post by Doling on social media today, September 29th, he teased, “Snot news coming soon.” That caption was put over a video of Doling‘s prized Les Paul which he purchased back in 1996 with the band’s advance from Geffen Records. That guitar was also employed throughout the recording process of “Get Some“.

Doling has yet to spill the beans on what’s in the works with this latest tease, but that post has been enough to get fans excited.
