Update: August 23rd, 2024 10:13am:

Mötley Crüe have since announced a new three-song EP titled “Cancelled” for October 04th. It will feature this cover, the previously released “Dogs Of War“, and the as-yet unreleased title track. All three songs were recorded under producer Bob Rock (Metallica, 311).

The band said of the sessions that spawned this effort:

“It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together. What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well.”

Original Story:

Last summer saw multi-platinum glam metal legends Mötley Crüe debut their live cover of the 1986 Beastie Boys hit, “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)“. That rendition has since been performed by Mötley Crüe dozen of times since, and now, a newly released studio recording of it has arrived.

It’s somewhat of a full circle moment, as back in 1985, Mötley Crüe issued their own track “Fight For Your Rights” on their 4x multi-platinum album “Theatre Of Pain“. The similarly named Beastie Boys‘ track — which doesn’t appear to have any direct ties to that track — would surface a year later on their diamond-certified debut album “Licensed To Ill“.
