Julie Christmas Shares Details For Her First Solo Album In Over A Decade

0

Julie Christmas (ex-Made Out Of Babies/Battle Of Mice) will have her first new album in fourteen years, “Ridiculous And Full Of Blood“, out on June 14th. Due out through Cult Of Luna-affiliated Red Crk Recordings, the opus finds Christmas working with a deep roster of studio musicians.

Among those joining her are Cult Of Luna guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson, Kylesa vocalist/guitarist Laura Pleasants, Candiria guitarist John LaMacchia and Spotlights drummer Chris Enriquez. Tom Tierney sat in on keys, while Andrew Schneider produced and mixed.

Schneider also contributed additional bass, percussion, guitar and synth. The song “Supernatural” is the second to make its way out from the record, following last year’s “Not Enough“. Christmas commented:

“At 20 I said that I was going to be making noise until I opened my mouth and nothing came out but a croak and a thin trickle of blood. Right now I’m stronger and LOUDER than I have ever been.

This song ‘Supernatural‘ from our new record ‘Ridiculous and Full of Blood‘, was written to sing with people who listen and come to hear. Time doesn’t make you softer, it makes you harder. It also reminds you that you wouldn’t be here without the people you sing with.”

Speaking further of the record, she offered:

“I want people to hear the sad heroine, vile villains, dreamy characters at play, squalor, madness, longing, challenge, triumph, beauty, and love. This story is a little different, it isn’t all fairytale. It speaks to how human nature defies categorisation. The kindest person commits immeasurable acts of cruelty, the monster loves their friend. We are all like that.”
