Phil Labonte & Howard Jones With Five Finger Death Punch

Five Finger Death Punch Perform With All That Remains, Ex-Killswitch Engage, Etc. Vocalists As Ivan Moody Falls Ill

It’s been a rough summer touring season for Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody. Having previously missed a string of highly coveted shows opening for Metallica due to a protracted recovery from hernia surgery, Moody was eventually able to join his bandmates in the multi-platinum alternative metal outfit on the road late last month.

However, Moody was once again sidelined during tonight’s (August 27th) show opening for Metallica at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, this time due to the flu. A statement shared by the band earlier today read as follows:

“To our friends in L.A!

Ivan fell ill with a terrible flu and won’t be able to perform tonight.

We are grateful that our good friends Phil Labonte (All That Remains), Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage, ex-Light The Torch and SION) and AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods) are stepping up and will take over his vocal duties for what will surely be a special show.

Join us in wishing our brother Ivan well, he’ll be back very soon.
5FDP”

Notable among the statement is Jones being listed as an ex-member of Light The Torch. No official word on the group having called it quits has come down, though they have been on a lengthy period of downtime from the road. Outside of that, somewhat ironically, back in 2010, Labonte himself filled in for Jones on a tour with Killswitch Engage, leading to a run that was colloquially dubbed ‘Philswitch Engage’ .

Initial fan-filmed footage of the aforementioned trio fronting Five Finger Death Punch during tonight’s proceedings can be seen below:
