The accolades for Ghost continue to roll in with the recent silver certification in the UK of the band’s breakout TikTok viral hit “Mary On A Cross“. A silver certification in the United Kingdom is awarded by the British Phonographic Industry in honor of attaining 60,000 units shifted.
The theatrically-inclined Swedish hard rockers have enjoyed a growing upsurge in success across the past few years, with 2022 in particular serving as a high watermark for the band’s mastermind Tobias Forge and co. “Mary On A Cross” played a big part in that, having organically found fame on TikTok thanks to being used in an unofficial mega-viral ‘Stranger Things‘ clip.
The song itself was originally released as a b-side back in 2019 to a 7″ single “Kiss The Go-Goat” and has since become the band’s most popular streaming track by a landslide. This past December saw “Mary On A Cross” earn a gold certification in the United States, signifying 500,000 units. Last year also saw the band awarded gold certifications for “Cirice“, “Dance Macabre” and “Square Hammer” in the United States as well.
The group may even have some more prestigious awards coming their way in the near future. Their latest studio album “Impera” already took home the ‘Favorite Rock Album’ at the 2022 2022 ‘American Music Awards‘ , and is currently up for several Grammis in their home country.
