‘V/H/S/Mixtape‘, the ninth instalment in the ‘V/H/S‘ horror anthology franchise premiered on Shudder today, October 09th. Outside of the involvement GWAR and some other prominent musicians, Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge was tipped for involvement in that film. With it now streaming, fans are reporting that Forge oversaw a new music video for the song “Premature Burial” from his past death metal band Repugnant.

In an interesting twist, the credits for the newly featured performance of that 2003 song now finds Watain‘s Erik Danielsson on vocals. Danielsson and Forge have long been friends. Repugnant‘s last run came to an end back in 2011, with Forge eventually going on to hit it big with Ghost. That Forge is now revisiting an over 20-year-old song from a defunct band of his with an updated lineup, just as rumors of him working on a death metal project swirl, seems noteworthy.

Whether or not it means there’s further activity in the Repugnant camp remains to be seen however. For what it’s worth, the credited performers on the song in the aforementioned film include Forge and Gottfrid Åhman returning on guitars, Gustaf Lindström (also formerly of Ghost) back on bass, and drummer Thomas Daun once again on drums. Forge previously handled vocals in Repugnant.

Interestingly, this has all taken place as Forge is currently on a pronounced hiatus from Ghost.
