New material from reunited mathcore favorites Botch has just arrived online. It emerges after not so subtle teasing. For their apparent return to active duty, the band have premiered the below song, “One Twenty Two

A music video for this new track directed by Dimitri Luedemann can be seen below. Speaking of the song itself, the band’s guitarist David Knudson offered:

“During Covid, I was writing my debut solo LP, and mentally, I was sick of everything in quarantine. Lots of frustration had set in at home, and I figured the best way to deal with it was to write something heavy. I had no intention of writing anything for Botch, but when I was thinking of a singer to collaborate with, I thought, ‘Hey, I know the best hardcore singer ever to do it,’ so I hit up Dave V. He was super excited, and so it just kind of snowballed from there. There was never any intent or conversation about getting back together or writing. It just happened so naturally and was a great release for all of us to make it happen without any of the traditional pressure an ‘active’ band faces.”

Last fall the outfit signed with Sargent House, at the time stating it was mostly to get their back catalog online after the dissolution of their previous label, Hydra Head Records. However, outside of the housekeeping, they did promise some exciting things for this year. Hopefully this is the start of what they meant.

Having originally come to an end in 2002, the group’s last proper full-length release was 1999’s well-received “We Are The Romans“. Sargent House are readying a new 2xLP reissue of that very album for a November 04th release. You can pick up a copy here.
