As Deftones have settled into a now near daily tease of what they have in store, it’s becoming readily apparent at what they appear to be hinting at. While there’s been discussion of Morse code hidden in the Spotify Canvas entries for several previously released songs, a potential Braille angle and more, there also appears to be a simpler hidden meaning at play.

To catch you up, several weeks back the band’s frontman Chino Moreno spilled the beans on the title to the band’s forthcoming ninth studio album. While the interview in which he said it was soon edited and various fan communities and sites were asked to oblige the band in keeping mum on the title, it would seem that the group are just about ready to unveil it, having already coyly revealed several of the letters for it.

As some have noticed, the first letter of each song the band have been sharing lyrics for on their social media as of late have begun to spell out that potential album title. “One Weak” = ‘O’, “Hexagram” = ‘H’, today’s tease of “Minerva” = ‘M’—all of which line up with the previously redacted album title.

With one letter in that rumored title remaining, many are left hoping for an an official album announcement before the weekend with a possible new single to accompany it. Notably early teases from the band suggested a potential September 25th release for the Terry Date (Soundgarden, Pantera) produced effort.
