As I Lay Dying’s Return Will Reportedly Feature Numerous ‘Classic’ Lineup Members

It didn’t take long for people to begin to dissect the recent video teaser that As I Lay Dying posted, which shared their first glimpse of new music since 2012. In 2013 the band’s career was derailed after frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested after attempting to hire a hitman to murder his wife at the time. As it turned out, the man he thought to be was a hitman was actually an undercover cop.

Lambesis eventually spent two years in prison after having pled guilty to a charge of solicitation of another to commit murder. He was released from prison on December 17th, 2016 and issued this formal apology last December.

Lambesis was shown to be abusing anabolic steroids at the time of his arrest and later sued staff at the Vista Detention Facility for negligent behavior. He alleged that their failure in prescribing him Anastrozole to help with the steroid withdrawal created a hormonal imbalance that caused him to develop large breasts. It is unclear as to how that case has turned out.

During Lambesis‘ incarceration As I Lay Dying guitarist Nick Hipa in particular was understandably critical of Lambesis for his actions. However, if reports from publications, including Lambgoat, MetalSucks and Rock Feed are any indication, it seems a majority of the band’s ‘final’ lineup will be joining Lambesis in this new reunion.

Tattoos, mannerisms and sponsored instruments used in the recently shared video were all cited as evidence to support their claims. Notably, social media accounts for most of the apparently returning members, who went on to form Wovenwar following Lambesis‘ arrest, have fallen silent in recent weeks.
