Rob Zombie recently vented about his struggles in getting the Motion Picture Association of America to give his upcoming horror film “31” an R rating. Two previous cuts of the film had resulted in an NC-17 rating—thus eliminating it from a wide release, as most theaters will not screen a film with that strict of a rating.
With the latest cut Zombie has now confirmed that an R rating has now been granted and in celebration, he has shared the below poster for it. If you’re interested in eventually seeing Zombie‘s original vision of the film, he has mentioned via his Facebook that an unrated cut of the film should emerge via its home release. The film is presently scheduled to premiere this month at the ‘Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The synopsis for it reads:
“…The story of five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made hell, they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31. 31 has no rules. 31 has no boundaries. It is ever so simple. Do whatever you can do to killer your opponent before they kill you. Keep this up for 12 hours and freedom is yours.”
