Rob Zombie has been struggling to get an R rating for his upcoming horror film, ‘31‘. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) have thus far refused to give it anything less than an NC-17 rating, having now seen 2 cuts of it. Zombie commented:

“Well, after two tries through the MPAA our rating on 31 remains NC-17. Maybe three is the charm to get an R rating. Why R you ask? Well, because your local theater will not show an NC-17. Even though you are a fucking adult… things much be censored for your enjoyment.”

As it stands, the film in its current version is said to feature “sadistic graphic violence, bizarre sexuality/nudity, pervasive disturbing images and some strong language. It is presently scheduled to premiere in January at the ‘Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The synopsis for it reads:

“…The story of five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made hell, they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31. 31 has no rules. 31 has no boundaries. It is ever so simple. Do whatever you can do to killer your opponent before they kill you. Keep this up for 12 hours and freedom is yours.”
