Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has told Alternativenation.net that he heard that his replacement in the group, Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington, has exited the outfit. The aforementioned site had the following to say of that:
“I asked Weiland what he thought about the band’s legacy at this point with Chester Bennington in the band, Weiland responded, “He’s not in the band any more.” When I pressed him, he stood his ground, stating: “I heard he’s not in the band anymore.”
Weiland also said, “[Chester’s] got a band where he gets paid $700,000 a night with, and with STP, the brand is kind of falling apart, which is a shame.””
Highly Suspect vocalist Johnny Stevens also claims to have been asked by Stone Temple Pilots‘ Dean DeLeo if he was interested in joining the band this past August. Stone Temple Pilots have of course since performed shows since then with Bennington. Thus, it remains unclear if Bennington has recently exited or the band are just being proactive around Bennington‘s commitments to Linkin Park.
