Speaking in the latest issue of ‘Revolver‘ magazine (#109 June/July 2013) Deftones, etc. frontman Chino Moreno revealed that at one point he wrote lyrics for Pelican songs.
As part of an interview about his latest project Palms, who released their self-titled debut earlier this week, Moreno was asked if he approached the project differently than his other ventures. To that Moreno replied:
“I really didn’t. I mean, I hear the music and I just start kinda singing along to it. Usually the first time I hear something, I’ll get ideas. I would listen to Pelican records back in the day and write my own lyrics to them. I remember telling Larry [Herweg of Pelican] “Dude, I wrote a whole set of lyrics for your song!” And he was like, “Track it!” I never did, but that’s just natural thing when I hear music, especially if it’s instrumental music.”
