Attila's Chris Fronzak Speaks Of Embracing Nu Metal And Metal's "Lack" Of Fun And Rebellion

It’s not hard to notice that Attila‘s polarizing combination of rap and metal owes a lot to nu metal, particularly on their latest release, “Guilty Pleasure“. Band frontman Chris Fronzak told Revolver in their January 2015 issue that was an intentional move:

“We’ve always looked up to nu metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit, and we’ve always had a slight element of nu metal in our music. But this album has a bit more in it than our previous ones—we brought in seven-string guitars, dropped the tuning and embraced a little more of our nu metal side.”

Fronzak also addressed the various controversies his lyrical content routinely stirs up:

“I really feel like metal is lacking a feeling of fun and rebellion these days, as well as that party vibe. That’s what rock and roll and metal were founded on—it was all about partying and rebelling and breaking the rules. And the fact that so many bands in our particular scene of music are trying to make it into something it’s not really bums me out—I don’t really understand why everyone’s music has to become so pussy! It’s supposed to push buttons. It’s not supposed to be Bible verse, or an excerpt from an inspirational novel!”
