I think the problem with From Bliss To Devastation has less to do with being “nu-metal” and more to do with over-production. There is just too much going on on that record for a VOD album. They don’t need all the background noise and sounds and effects to make a good record. That record has a producer’s touch all over it, but that’s kind of Machine’s MO. That’s exactly what he did with Clutch on Blast Tyrant. Made it into a shiny rock record, when it needed to be a dirty, raw rock record. There are a few great songs on FBTD that suffer from being overly fucked with.

I’ve been waiting for this for almost a year, this sounds like the same update we got six months ago though. I know this is going to be good. I really think that after bloodsimple, getting back to VOD is going to bring out a killer new sound. I say new sound because there is no way they are going back to the original, it’s been almost 15 years and they’ve all changed a bit by now.

    • @ The guilty1: Couldn’t have said it better myself……….Its a great album, just not a great VOD album. If it was a Soundgarden record, everyone would have been head over heals for it. Also, am I the only one super bummed the audio quality of the new songs is ass?
