Deftones frontman Chino Moreno recently sat down with Spin.com to discuss the bands upcoming new album, their shelved outing “Eros“, new side projects and more.
Highlights of the interview include word that the Deftones‘ new album is now eyeing a May release and will feature the tracks “Rocket Skates” and “Nylons And Suspenders“, among others.
However, perhaps most interesting is Moreno discussing his new project The Holy Ghost with Shaun Lopez of Far fame. Moreno elaborated on the project, saying:
“Most recently I have The Holy Ghost, which I’m doing with my buddy Shaun Lopez from the band Far. He lives a couple blocks away from me, so I go over to his studio a few nights a week and work on this electro record. Annie Hardy from Giant Drag has done a couple vocals on this project, too.”

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear it.
Uhh Chino the Deftones have been making crap music since 2000, after the White Pony came out….give it up already.
I miss the Adrenaline and Around the Fur days, but they haven’t totally bombed since then. Each newer album has a couple good tracks like When Girls Telephone Boys and Combat. I’m curious to hear their new sound without Chi.
Just cuz you don’t like them doesn’t mean they should give it up. The Deftones still have a great, unique sound. Regardless of your hating
Deftones are everything that’s great about heavy music. A great, etheral sound, terrific vocals, and experimentation that works.
Great band. Hoping for a mindblowing album.
Hey LocalWeedMan, go listen to your Nickelback records you pigfucker.
DEFTONES!!!
Chino has great \heavy music\ vocals…really? His voice is reminiscent of a whine/shriek 99% of the time. It’s the main reason why I’ve been put off by the band since White Pony came out.
I’m looking forward to that 8 string shit that Steph is going to pull out.
Objectively, it can be said that the Deftones are one of those bands which transcend musical trends, stereotypes and clichés. They are by no means perfect, but that would make their existence pretty redundant. Even after hearing these guys for the first time in ‘94, I continue to be excited about the future of this band.
