Lamb Of God vocalist Randy Blythe has been sporting a freshly shorn head this month, and for good reason. The aforementioned groove metal musician, published author and political activist teamed up with the Living The Dream Foundation at last weekend’s ‘Welcome To Rockville‘ festival in Daytona Beach, FL to spend some time with a special fan.
Blythe invited that woman, Jessyca, a single mother battling stage 4 breast cancer, to shave his head backstage during the festival in a show of solidarity with her. Jessyca later caught the band’s set from the side of the stage at the festival that night, where Blythe shouted her out and led the crowd in a chant again cancer. further got the VIP treatment from the group, receiving stage-used items and gifts.
Blythe has been charitable with his time and awareness for those in need in the past. In 2016 he auctioned off his personal gold record for cancer research. In 2018, he auctioned off his GRAMMY medallion for Myontonic Muscular Dystrophy research. In a heart-warming twist, that latter gesture was paid forward when that same medallion was donated to a campaign raising funds for Blythe‘s sister-in-law’s own battle with breast cancer.
Blythe also previously paid tribute to Lamb Of God fan Wayne Ford with the band’s 2016 track “The Duke“. Ford sadly passed away following a battle with leukemia.
