Taproot have officially inked a deal with Victory Records. The group are currently working on a new album which they plan to release through the label in the spring/summer of 2010.
For now, the group offered the following statement on their signing:
“After a brief period on their own without a major label, Taproot is happy to announce they have found a new home with Victory Records. The future is looking bright with a strong label behind them as Taproot is currently working on a new record to be released in the Spring/Summer of 2010.”

huh?
What! Taproot, victory records, what?
Victory Records + OTEP and TapRoot = nu-metal revival.
This makes no sense.
taproot is still alive?
fck this sucks.
Didn’t expect to see this news. Good for Taproot though. They’re good dudes.
Woah…Victory. Right out of leftfield.
Ya know, from that ‘era’, Gift is still a solid listen.
blue sky research is still one of my favorite albums, their last one not soo much [but had some great songs].. hopefully with the label taking care of concerts and studio time and all those arrangments it would be such a strain on the band, andd they can take a little more time on their next album
This is just as weird as Rammstein signing with Vagrant. I dont understand what a label that mostly releases Hardcore, and Emo would want with a shitty Nu-Metal act.
I don’t know, man. These days where numerous hardcore, deathcore and metalcore bands pop out from every corner, I’d much rather listen to Taproot’s old albums. Their previous album was more of a pop/rock affair which sadly made them lose their musical identity and most of their fans in the process. Blue-Sky Research really is an underrated gem. “But there’s no screamo nor pigsqueals on it!” Thank f*ck for that. Hopefully signing to Victory will do wonders for Taproot. Otep’s on Victory too and they’re doing quite alright.
Taproot is solid. Gift is hands down their best album! However, they have grown and matured as musicians. Their music is fantastic but so different than that of Gift. It (their music) has a strange connection to the “fall” season for me… don’t know why. Now, Victory and Taproot…. hmmmmm…..
Only this site would post about Taproot still.
Has anyone noticed Bury Your Dead sounds a lot like Sevendust now? All we need now is Emmure to start sounding like Limp Bizkit.
Taproot are one of those bands who unfortunately haven’t been able to shake the nu-metal tag like the Deftones were able to. One of the few bands from that era whom I can still listen to. Hopefully Tony McBaldy Brummel does more for them than Atlantic was able to.
Saw these guys not too long ago in a small bar outside detroit. They were still pretty good. Just not sure they fit on the Victory label
