Ministry‘s synth pop past has been reinvented for an upcoming album titled “The Squirrely Years Revisited“. The industrial rock group’s vocalist Al Jourgensen previously went to great lengths to disavow that early chapter of the band, having been unhappy with the manipulation of outside forces on his music at the time. At one point, he went so far as to say that the band’s 1983 debut album”With Sympathy“, “traumatized me for years.”
However, recent years have seen Jourgensen warm up to those first entries in the Ministry catalog — albeit by overhauling them in a fashion more palatable to him. His newly re-recorded collection of those earlier tracks will be released next Friday, March 28th, under the title of “The Squirrely Years Revisited“.
Perhaps the most popular track to emerge from that fledgling era of Ministry was “Everyday Is Halloween“. You can now stream the reworked ‘Squirrely Version’ of that song below.
