Weeks after returning to the stage for a benefit show, the surviving members of the classic era of Nirvana‘s lineup reunited again last night, February 14th. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear ran through the legendary grunge band’s diamond-certified breakthrough single “Smells Like Teen Spirit“, this time with multi-diamond certified rapper/country musician/actor Post Malone fronting them.
That performance of the hit track took place as part of a 50th anniversary concert for ‘Saturday Night Live‘ which was held at the Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY. Malone is somewhat of an obvious choice to front the storied group, having previously wowed the band with a livestreamed benefit set of Nirvana covers that took place amid the pandemic.
In a bit of seemingly planned synergy, that very performance is also headed to vinyl this on April 12th as “Post Malone Tribute To Nirvana” as part of this year’s ‘Record Store Day‘ event.
