Post Malone launched a livestreamed Nirvana tribute yesterday, April 24th, which saw him joined by Travis Barker (Blink-182, etc.) on drums. Malone‘s engineer Nick Mack handled the guitars while bassist Brian Lee rounded out the lineup.
The performance has generated over 3.3 million views in the 20 hours since it took place. It also saw $2,812,090 raised for United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization thus far from donations made via the stream. Additionally, Google.org will be matching all donations at a 2:1 rate, up to $5M, with all proceeds going to the aforementioned UN Foundation.
The performance got a big stamp of approval from Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, who live tweeted during the event:
