It has unfortunately been a rough few weeks for Category 7. The up and coming metal supergroup, whose roster features members of Armored Saint, Exodus, Shadows Fall, Kerry King, etc. fame , released their self-titled debut album this past July. However, just over two months since announcing their first-ever U.S. tour this past October, the band have now been forced to cancel the trek due to low ticket sales.
Today, December 11th, the band issued the following statement outlining the cancelation of that trek, which was set to commence in March with Dead By Wednesday and Engineered Society Project:
“With the overwhelming competition for the live show dollar, we feel that our projected ticket sales will not be enough for our tour to be profitable, so we have made the painful decision to cancel our tour in March.
The cost of touring continues to go up and while we had no illusion of big profits, at least breaking even was a goal which after speaking to our agent and the promoters of the shows did not seem achievable.
We appreciate everyone that is enjoying our music, and we will continue to attempt to find a way to bring the live show on the road.
In making this decision now it will enable everyone to get refunds before Christmas. All VIP purchases will be immediately refunded.
Thank you again for the support for Category 7.”
In even worse news, yesterday (December 10th) the band announced that their guitarist Mike Orlando ‘s father George passed away last week, with the band publicly offering their condolences to their grieving bandmate.
