Per a report filed by Deadline, Pearl Jam, ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is set to be arraigned on a a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence tomorrow, September 26th.
That charge stems from an investigation into an incident which took place on March 18th of this year. Klinghoffer is said to have struck 47-year-old Israel Sanchez with his GMC Yukon SUV in Alhambra, CA on that day. A wrongful death lawsuit was filed by Israel‘s daughter Ashley Sanchez this past July over the incident.
In that suit, Ashley alleged Klinghoffer was distracted by his phone at the time of the collision. Israel was struck by Klinghoffer‘s vehicle while using a cross walk. Israel later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in that incident, passing away several hours later in a hospital.
Surveillance footage of the incident was captured and submitted to police. Ashley is seeking damages for pain and suffering, medical costs, legal fees and more in her suit.
