Jane’s Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell has newly issued a statement of his own in regards to his recent behavior. If you somehow missed it, the 65-year-old alternative rocker  had an onstage meltdown during the band’s show in Boston, MA this past Friday, September 13th.

His aggressive behavior eventually turned physical and saw him attempt to initiate a physical altercation with his bandmate Dave Navarro. Ultimately he was restrained by several individuals working at the show, along with his bandmates, and escorted off the stage. In turn, the concert was then cut short several songs early.

His statement follows this morning’s cancelation of the band’s reunion tour, and a separate statement issued by his three bandmates in the outfit, in which they cited his “mental health difficulties” for the band having to scrap the run. That latter joint statement, which was issued by Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins, read as follows:

“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour.

Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.

We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.

Our hearts are broken.
Dave, Eric and Stephen.”

Taking to social media this morning in response to the tour cancellation and above statement, Farrell issued the below apology of his own:

“This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.

Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

Farrell‘s violent outburst was later described by his wife as being the end result of issues with his voice, hearing, and the mix of the sound onstage, that night. However, it would seems tensions between Farrell and his bandmates may have been building over time, as an underwhelming performance by Farrell earlier in the week did not shine a favorable light on the group’s now spiked reunion tour.
