Update: April 23rd, 2023 11:16 AM:

An update Trey‘s health was shared by his mother Janell Fulghum Emmanuel on social media. Speaking yesterday (April 22nd), she stated:

“I would like to say thank you for all of your well wishes for my son, Trey. As it appears, Trey was totally dehydrated. His back issue was due to him slipping while going down the stairs of the bus and hit his back on one of the stairs. They have decided to go ahead and have a show tonight And I am just hoping and praying that all goes well.

I had a message from Dan, he said that Trey got rest last night and was up and around and seem to be ready.

I will continue to watch anything I can find about tonight. When he returns home tomorrow, I know he’ll need rest, but also needs to get some medical help.

Again, thank you so much for your concern. He loves his fans.”

Azagthoth was back onstage with the band last night, April 22nd, for the closing date of their spring headlining tour.

Original Story:

Morbid Angel were forced to cut their show early last night, April 21st, in Tampa, FL. Five songs into their performance, the band’s guitarist Trey Azagthoth began to struggle to stay upright onstage. In the below footage he was seen being aided and escorted offstage by attending road crew. While the band attempted to continue the set without him for one more song, they ultimately opted to cut the night short.

Bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker was seen addressing the crowd after the incident:

“This is the first time this has ever happened. Trey if of course the leader of Morbid Angel man. I myself do not feel right playing Morbid Angel songs without Trey next to me…”

At one point Tucker mentioned that Trey Azagthoth had “injured” himself. Thus far there has been no statement from the band regarding Trey‘s condition. The hometown show was the penultimate date of the band’s spring headlining tour, which has at times been a rather rocky ride.

Early on in that trek, a tornado hit the Belvidere, IL venue mid-concert, claiming the life of one concertgoer and injuring numerous others. That incident also destroyed the rented RV of openers Crypta. Later on in that trek, Revocation vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson broke his wrist.
