‘Star Trek‘ icon William Shatner made his heavy metal live debut yesterday, September 19th, ahead of his performance at this year’s ‘Riot Fest‘ in Chicago, IL. The 95-year-old actor/musician, etc., who has been working on a new guest-filled heavy metal album, took to the stage at Park West with his backing band The *uckers. That record is tentatively titled “What The F Is Heavy Metal” and will feature members of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Black Label Society, Scorpions and more.
Ahead of time, it was revealed that guitarist Marcus Nand, guitarist Britt Lightning (Vixen), bassist Phil Soussan (Ex-Ozzy Osbourne/Billy Idol, etc.) and drummer Fred Aching (Powerflo, Fraxures, etc.) would serve as his backing band for yesterday’s show.
According to those in attendance, Shatner‘s set consisted of six songs, three of which were new compositions. That setlist is said to have run as follows:
“Crazy Train” (Ozzy Osbourne cover)
“Rage“
“Ace Of Spades” (Motörhead cover)
“Sky“
“Enter Sandman” (Metallica cover)
“One Fear“
Shatner will be back onstage today, September 20th, for a set at this year’s ‘Riot Fest‘ in Chicago, IL. He’s also been tipped to perform at next year’s ‘Coachella‘.
