Tragically, cancer has claimed the life of another member of Swedish crust/death metal outfit Disfear. This morning, September 15th, the band announced the passing of their drummer Marcus Andersson, following a 4-year battle against brain cancer, glioblastoma. The group offered:
“With profound sadness and grief, we are sharing the news of the untimely passing of our longtime friend and drummer, Marcus Andersson. Marcus fought incredibly hard but ultimately lost his 4-year battle with glioblastoma and leaves behind his beloved wife, children and dog.
Marcus has played with Disfear since 1998, contributing significantly to the creative trajectory of the band. Marcus was the best of friends, an incredible drummer, and a driving force, full of passion. A big heart, pumping to a rhythm that only he could uniquely master, has sadly stopped beating.
Losing Marcus, following the losses of Henrik and Tomas, is hard to comprehend.

Last fall saw the band’s vocalist Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg (also of At The Gates, etc.) pass away following a battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma. Disfear bassist Henke Frykman previously passed away back in 2011 following his own lengthy battle with cancer.
