It has been a wild morning in Deftones‘s fan community, with the apparent leaks of material from their long-shelved 2008 album “Eros” and demos from their ninth studio album “Ohms“, complete with an unreleased b-side, seemingly now circulating online. The band’s fan communities have been widely discussing the leaks.
11 tracks said to be from the “Eros” sessions, including the previously released “Smile“, have been shared unceremoniously on a message board post. That album was scrapped in the wake of the serious 2008 car accident the band’s bassist/vocalist Chi Cheng was involved in. The injuries sustained in that accident would ultimately claim his life several years later in 2013.
Song titles featured on this apparent leak, which appear to all be working titles, include:
“Destiny“
“Brenda“
“Melanie“
“Smile“
“Margot“
“Candy“
“Sable“
“Electra“
“Trempest“
“Diamond“
“Briana“
Last year Deftones vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno described the album as being largely unfinished, suggesting that this apparent leak would be demo recordings. He also communicated that the band would prefer to keep the album shelved.
Also notably now seemingly circulating is the demo sessions for “Ohms“, complete with an unreleased track dubbed “Sensations“. Copies of that material, if genuine and not some AI-assisted ruse, have already begun circulating online via YouTube and more. Thus far the band themselves have yet to publicly address the leaks.
